I also assist people who have religious beliefs but who do not wish the funeral service to be held at a church, temple or mosque. Even when choosing a civil funeral service, it is not uncommon for families to request that a prayer be incorporated into the ceremony.

People choose me to be their civil funeral celebrant because they wish to have a professional person to co-create a service centred on the person, their history and their achievements. In a civil funeral ceremony, decisions about the content of the ceremony are made by the family. It is my task to guide and consult you, where required.

Depending on your circumstances, for best practice an appointment/planning session is arranged with the client family. This allows me the opportunity to listen and learn about the loved one that has passed, and how the family would like them remembered.

When required I can provide resources and suggestions that may assist the client family to choose the most appropriate music, video/photo presentations, quotations (poetry, reading or prayer), suggest symbols that represent the loved one, brief those persons chosen to participate within the ceremony, assist the family with the Eulogy and explain and conduct how the ceremony will flow.

Generally the one appointment/planning session with the client family is sufficient. A draft of the ceremony is emailed to the client family for confirmation that all the details are correct, ensuring the ceremony that I deliver is exactly how the client family want the celebration of their loved one’s life reflected and celebrated.
